And kinda disagreed with it immediately and intuitively. Maybe i've been too sold on the govt narrative.

Or maybe I don't know enough. Or maybe the whole field of dominant economic theory currently is bullshit.

I wonder why do economists keep asking people to spend more. Stuff to spend more. I wonder whether it is possible to break from such economic tradition to consider other metrics in a good-enough fashion, i.e something more than the national happiness index thingy.

It seems to me that if people were less inclined to spend, say 30% less inclined to spend, assuming a closed system, there would be 30% less goods bought and assuming lots of other things remain constant, 30% less goods produced and everyone presumably earning 30% less money. But whats the problem with that? Fundamentally I really don't see an issue. Maybe you need to work 30% less too! And have 30% more time. Maybe to do other stuff -> that might

Or maybe it is an issue with the mandate economists are given or their field is given. Which purely focuses on the tangible.

I wonder, maybe these kind of thinking is behind the proliferation of bullshit jobs. I suppose it would be better for the economy if everyone, say, advertised like crazy. Cos we giving jobs to the advertisers, even though the total actual product is the same.

Ok not very well formed thoughts. But it seems to me that we should be focusing on making people spend time on what matters and if they don't know what matters, to figure out what matters. But that don't make a docile population, or a necessarily industrious one...? What do a bunch of enlightened folks do actually? are there societies of enlightened people? Do they just sit around, do what needs to be done and enjoy life communally the rest of the time?

Year is coming to an end...

Is work supposed to be stressful? Is that the curse of toil?

Actually my core work is pretty stress free and chill, once you are past the learning curve. Pity it won't exist for too long more.

Money is the great allocator of resources. What can compare to it?

Money is also a pretty shit allocator towards value, because it is skewed towards what people with money value and even worse, there are many miserable rich people that, either cannot get what they value with their money, or... will not?

Honestly... I would pay to have a good conversation. I would pay for good company. I would pay for so many things, but the funny thing about these is that payment for it makes it not good anymore.

It really is the curse of money eh.

Maybe then, the greater allocator of value is your time. Pay with your time for such things. And the time to money exchange rate is your wage. Given that money cannot buy so many of the good stuff that time can... Hmm... seems like a strong disincentive to trade much time for money eh.

But of course, this is assuming that you trade your money for the good stuff well. If not you are better off working for money, at least you can save future time (because, you almost always need some money to have time). Just don't overdo it and suddenly, all the time is your children's. And if they are, its fine technically, if your children are not retarded.

Wow what an unfocused piece.

A little girl walks behind her mother. Where are they going? She doesn't know, she doesn't care. Does she want to go? Not really. She knows she wants to be with her mother, but maybe it is more of fearing not being with than actually wanting to be with.

What a mundane existence, what a mundane trip. We are created to be more, there must be something more. Break free from the opiate!!

But then again, if you switch to time efficiency, maybe the point is not efficiency at all.
