What ought?
What is with fur kids? I have seen an increasing amount of my peers get pets and give said pet, usually a dog or a cat, a lot of love. Like an incredible amount of love and / or priority in terms of affection, many times placing them above most / all human relationships that they already do have. This usually is for people without children. And well, in some cases, once they have children the child takes priority over the pet. It seems to me that this is not fitting. It seems unfitting that an animal should be the main object of one's affection. I think it is to some degree a substitution for human relationships where if their emotional / social needs filled by using an animal where, possibly, human relationships require too much work and / or are too volatile. But this substitution is not right... What is the quality of the love an animal has for you versus that which a fellow rational human could? Does the animal love you because of you? Because of your character or ideas? Can an animal challenge you to become a better person? Or is the animal happy to see his/her food provider? Or is the animal just following animal instincts and we just anthromorphise it? Some other people have said that it is an substitute for maternal instinct. Well I can't comment too much on that because... I don't really have much of that. But yeah, while here I am typing that it is lame, it is just an armchair opinion that it is not right. There is no action force towards it. That means to say that I won't generally dissuade people from having pets. Actually it is a slightly pity-ing force, if it comes from a place of neediness. Having pets is not wrong, of course. There can be great joy in having raising animals, for food or companionship or security or whatnot. The only issue I have is if it is used as a substitute for humans on the social front (i.e the companionship part). But if other people want to do that, well, that is their prerogative. Maybe in addition to that which is above it seems kinda lame to me to like pour your efforts into something that has no choice but to "love" you. Its like falling in love with chatGPT (which people have done). Or like... making your child your everything because your child "loves" you. But the child can't not love you cos you are the parent. One should stare potential rejection in the eye and eat it. It is an acquired taste where the bitterness burns good.
I reach home, I on my computer, do my neopet dailies, talk (text) some people, watch some youtube recommendations... ... Boom, it is time to sleep. What a life man. The rest of the time just gone.
So I have some free time, again because no sun run. But I can't think of what to write. And my attention is so frazzled. And I haven't read much. Life is good but it could be better.
So i'm thinking about the age issue facing many churches whereby it seems that the bulk of the value-adding work is being done by a group of mostly 20s, a little bit of (young) 30s, almost no 40s and early 50s some late 50s and a bunch of 60s (generally after retirement). Well, it seems to me that this is very odd. Let's juxtapose it against any large company or society and it seems to be the complete opposite. In fact, it seems as if the church is "gleaning" the leftovers of bandwidth to contribute the value add from standard society / corporations. This is as from age 1-16 there is almost no value to be added because Joven y Estupido and there is not much vitality / energy left for 70 and above. So church is getting sloppy seconds? The low quality high energy without much wisdom / maturity of 20s and early 30s and the disconnectedness / outdatedness and low energy of the 60s to combine together to be, for God? Ostensibly the most important thing you can do with your life? Is this the biblical model for how a church should be getting its value add? I dunno man, but it seemed to me that the key leaders, say apostles (of course Jesus is special right coz he died young, and rose again young) value added well into their 40s and 50s, peaking around then. And the appointed deacons and elders were also all around that age. Well, it is, to some degree, an indictment of the Gen Xers, but how to indict those who are not in the church LOL. It is just a mere minor indictment of those who are in the church but not stepping up. Well then, the next obvious question is, how does something run by 20s and 30s with lates 50s and 60s look like, in society or in the world. Anything particularly value adding as an organization is run that way? I'm thinking startups for the young youthful energy with less wisdom but an opportunity to fail. Where 99% bust out and 1% succeed spectacularly and more than 1000x so its all good to cover the 99% busting out. But... I don't think startups have retirees calling the shots. And maybe some sort of retirement club where the young old guide the old old to gather every once in awhile, keep active, stay happy, have community, have a good retirement? But very seldom 20s and early 30s. Or... you can look at USA where the geriatrics run the government. Full clown, though we can't attribute it entirely to age. Maybe the churches that I look at are some sort of amalgamation of these two? But these two are far from what the church should be, even if they meet in the middle and pick some best of both worlds. Because it seems to me there isn't the focused, determined, stably win the world for Christ? Is this impossible? And why do people once they have children abdicate their responsibility to the church? I fully get that it is a big "call" on your energy. What then? Churches should be run by singles (mostly women) and childless couples? Doesn't seem particularly biblical to me. There IS a reason why generally society is not run by such as these?? Is this gg for the church with demographic challenges? All this is not to say that the current people putting in the energy and effort are deficient or doing things badly. It is more about fittingness.
Why do I keep wanting praise myself when I am clear such an unsuitable unfitting conduit for it? Why do I dream of greatness or even think it mine when it is so clearly not meant to be mine? It is the original sin! The sin of Satan of wanting that which is God's and wanting to be God cos... presumably, it is great to be God. And indeed it is great to be God, I think, but it is not great to be God when one isn't God. On another note, I think we are aging, we being my peers and I. I see it, I feel it. This is middle age phase, I know it in my bones and in my mind and in my heart although I don't want it. But, I am.
